Greater Catholic League South Division soccer teams Moeller and St. Xavier, which have a combined 28-4-5 record this season and earned the top two seeds in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Southwest Ohio Section / District Tournament, are now one win away from winning district championships and earning berths in the regional tournament.  No. 1 seed Moeller moved on with a 4-0 victory over Colerain Monday night in a district semifinal match at Hamilton High School, while No. 2 seed St. Xavier got past Milford, 3-1, in another district semifinal at Princeton High School’s Viking Stadium.

Moeller (15-1-2) will play Mason in the Southwest 3 District Championship at 7 p.m. Thursday Lakota Eat High School in Liberty Township.  Mason (12-5-1), which has won five straight, moved on with a 2-0 win against league rival Oak Hills Monday.  The two teams met way back on August 23 at Moeller, with the Crusaders posting a 2-1 victory in their season opener and the second match of the year for Mason. Moeller is No. 3 in the final Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Division I state poll.  Senior Ben Hegge scored two goals, and brother Sam added another goal and an assist in the first half to give Moeller a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime against Colerain.

Moeller has outscored its three postseason opponents, 14-0.

St. Xavier (12-3-3) – No. 10 in the OSSCA rankings – advances to oppose Dayton Carroll in the Southwest 2 District Championship at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lebanon Junior High School.  Carroll (19-0-0) kept its perfect season alive and advanced with a 4-1 victory that same evening against Vandalia Butler.  The Bombers, who have won five consecutive matches, won the district and advanced to the regional semifinals last season – falling to Anderson, 2-1, in overtime.  Carroll is a combined 35-2-2 the last two seasons.  St. Xavier got one goal each from Gino Geiser, Michael Wampler and Craig Wellens in the win over Milford.
