St. Xavier’s Knapke Wins GCL Division I Diving; League Swimming Championships Resume Today at Keating

Senior Josh Knapke finished with 260 points to narrowly defeat Moeller’s Gavin Osterday and win the Greater Catholic League Division I 1-Meter Diving event held Sunday evening at Sycamore High School.  St. Xavier had four of the top five finishers in the event, while Zander Benz of La Salle and Spencer Seibert of Elder came in sixth and seventh, respectively, as the 2018 GCL/GGCL Swimming & Diving Championships got underway.  The meet, which also includes competition in the Girls’ Greater Catholic League, resumes today at Keating Natatorium o the St. Xavier High School campus.

Warm-ups are set for 4 p.m. with the competition to begin at 5:10.

Here are the top seven finishers in the GCL Boys’ 1-Meter Diving:  1.  Josh Knapke (St. Xavier), 260; points 2.  Gavin Osterday (Moeller, 252.25; 3. Jacob Rodriguez (St. Xavier), 213.35; 4. Will Behimer (St. Xavier), 196.25; 5. Ben Cutforth (St. Xavier), 194.05; 6. Zander Benz (La Salle), 179.55; 7. Spencer Seibert (Elder), 101.4.
