Senior forward Riley Haubner scored a game-high 26 points to pace three double-figure scorers and help La Salle post a 64-53 victory at Lakota West in a non-conference basketball game Tuesdaynight. Haubner, the Lancers’ leading scorer averaging 21.3 points a game, connected on 7-of-12 field goals and was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line to help La Salle (2-2) snap a two-game losing streak. La Salle was the only Greater Catholic League South Division team in action Tuesday, with the other three GCL South members gearing up for non-conference games this Friday heading into the holidays.
Joining Haubner, also the GCL South leading scorer, in double figures were junior forward Kodyn Lambert and junior guard Nathan Vogelpohl, who each scored 11 as La Salle erased a slim 11-9 deficit at the end of the first quarter by outscoring West, 20-4, in the second period to take command. The Lancers, who converted 25-of-30 free throws (83.3 percent), are off until Thursday, December 28when they oppose Dublin Jerome at Thomas Worthington High School in Greater Columbus.
Elder, Moeller and St. Xavier are back in action Friday. Moeller (4-1) will host Wilmington at 7:30 p.m., while Elder and St. Xavier hit the road to take on members of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference. Elder (2-3) travels to face Walnut Hills, while St. Xavier (4-1) is at West Clermont. Both games tip off at 7:30.
